Design documentation (DD) on request is a complete set of documents (drawings, diagrams, specifications, instructions) in graphic, textual, or digital form. The preparation of design documentation is carried out according to the Customer’s individual requirements and wishes for the manufacture, inspection, use, and repair of a unique product or structure that is not part of the standard range. It serves as the documentary basis for launching a new product into production or modifying an existing product so that it fully meets the Customer’s objectives. “New Standard” provides turnkey KMD development and product design documentation with a quality guarantee.
Why custom design documentation is needed:
The main purposes and tasks of preparing KMD drawings to order are:
- defining the type and technical characteristics of the product: the design documentation graphically and textually describes the composition, structure, overall dimensions, and design features of parts, working assemblies, and elements;
- a basis for production: the documentation contains all necessary data (manufacturing materials, technical tolerances, production technologies) to manufacture a part or equipment as quickly, economically, and accurately as possible.
- quality control: KMD drawings make it possible at each production stage to verify that the finished product meets project requirements and standards;
- assembly process management — the project documentation and working drawings serve as guidelines for assemblers, installers, as well as operating organizations, maintenance, routine and emergency repairs;
- information transfer — the project and design documentation ensures accurate and complete transfer of information from designers to production personnel and enables knowledge storage and replication.
KMD design — main components
Depending on the Customer’s requirements and wishes, the project and design documentation may include the following documents:
- drawings — part, assembly, overall, electrical, and wiring drawings indicating exact dimensions and the schemes for connecting individual components into a single, functional structure;
- specifications — a list of all structural components of the product, including purchased items, with exact quantities indicated;
- schemes — schematic, electrical, installation, and process flow diagrams of the structure;
- text documents — descriptions, technical specifications, engineering calculations, instructions for assembly, storage, operation, repair, passports, methodological materials, and test programs;
- digital models — 3D modeling files that are often part of the project documentation package.
The composition of the project and design documentation is not fixed. It depends on the technical complexity of the product or finished structure and its functional purpose, and therefore must be agreed with the Customer in the approved technical assignment. In addition, the technical assignment specifies requirements for manufacturing materials, labeling, and specific documents. The development of project documentation is carried out in stages.
