Metalworking

Custom metalworking is a set of services for manufacturing metal structural elements, assemblies, and parts of any level of technological complexity based on the customer’s individual drawings. Metalworking includes cutting, milling, turning, welding, drilling, and other processes required to transform a raw blank into a finished product with specified dimensions and performance characteristics.

Metalworking in Ukraine is a highly demanded service for engineering, construction, and repair companies. New Standard provides metalworking services in accordance with the customer’s technical requirements and engineering documentation.

Metal Parts Machining — What Does It Include?

Custom metal machining may include the following range of services:

  • Preparation of design documentation, working drawings, and preparatory work — at this stage, the technical specification is developed and approved by the customer, the manufacturing material is selected, and blanks are prepared;
  • Turning operations — mechanical machining of blanks on CNC lathes. During turning, the workpiece rotates in the machine while excess material is removed using a special cutting tool to obtain parts with the required shape, dimensions, and accuracy;
  • Milling operations — mechanical machining of materials on CNC milling and turning–milling machines, during which a rotating cutter removes excess material from the surface of the blank. Milling allows the part to be formed to the required shape and dimensions and enables the creation of grooves, technological holes, steps, and other structural elements with a high level of precision;
  • Electrical discharge machining (EDM) — a metal processing method in which excess material is removed from the surface of an electrically conductive workpiece by means of electrical discharges. EDM makes it possible to change shape and dimensions and remove surface irregularities without direct contact between the electrode tool and the part. This method is used for machining super-hard materials and for manufacturing high-precision tools and technological elements;
  • Heat treatment of metals — modification of the structure and properties of metal blanks through controlled heating followed by cooling at a specified rate. Heat treatment is used to adjust strength, hardness, ductility, wear resistance, and physical properties of the material, to prepare it for further processing, and to impart the required performance characteristics to the finished product without changing its chemical composition;
  • Welding operations — formation of a permanent joint between two or more metal parts by creating strong atomic-level bonds. Technologically, welding involves local or overall heating of the material using an electric arc, flame, laser, or plastic deformation;
  • Application of various protective coatings — assembly, polishing, painting, and other finishing operations.
