Engineering Approach

Geometry Control & Design for Manufacturability

For frames, platforms and equipment assemblies, the accuracy of datum surfaces, mounting points, diagonals and relative positioning is critical. We define the assembly, welding and subsequent machining sequence before production to meet the drawing and installation requirements.

01Part locating and assembly sequence before welding
02Inspection of diagonals, planes, axes and mounting dimensions
03Allowance for welding distortion and stock for subsequent machining
04Machining of critical surfaces after welding, where required

For complex and critical structures, our engineer reviews the documentation, material, joint types, datum surfaces, allowable deviations and inspection methods. Where required, machining allowances and post-weld machining are built into the production route.

Production Cycle

When a Structure Requires More Than Welding

Within one order, we can combine material preparation, welding and machining. This is useful for frames, bases, brackets and equipment assemblies where individual parts or surfaces require accurate fits and mounting geometry.

Material preparation for metal fabrication
01 / Preparation

Cutting & Part Preparation

We prepare a complete set of blanks from drawings: profile, tube, sheet, plates, ribs, flanges and mounting elements.

Welding and assembly of a metal structure
02 / Assembly

Welding & Assembly

We assemble the structure in a defined process sequence while controlling datums and geometry. The welding process is selected for the material and requirements.

MIG/MAGTIGMMA

03 / Precision

Machining

We perform machining operations such as turning, milling, grinding and others on structural parts and critical surfaces where accurate fits, holes, planes or threads are required.

04 / Finishing

Inspection & Finishing

We verify dimensions and completeness, then carry out the agreed cleaning, grinding and surface preparation before handover. Inspection before and after coating* is performed when coating is specified in the technical requirements.

* The specific paint system, protective or decorative coating is agreed separately based on the material, service conditions and project requirements.

Quality Control

Geometry, welds, mounting points and completeness

Inspection criteria are defined by the engineering documentation and intended use. We verify key parameters at the appropriate production stages: material and completeness, assembly geometry, welded joints and readiness for shipment.

01
Input Data

We verify the material, drawings, specification, document revision and complete set of parts before assembly.

02
Assembly Geometry

We inspect overall dimensions, diagonals, relative positioning, mounting holes and datum surfaces.

03
Welded Joints

We visually inspect weld execution and conformity with the agreed process. Additional inspection methods are available when required by the project.

04
Final Inspection

Before handover, we verify critical dimensions, completeness, individual parts and readiness for the next stage.

Applications

Metal Fabrication for Industrial and Engineering Applications

How We Work

From Technical Requirements to Finished Metal Fabrication

01

Documentation

We receive drawings, engineering documentation, a 3D model, specification or initial sketch and confirm the intended use of the structure.

02

Engineering Review

We review the drawings for manufacturability, geometry and design datums, and define any required tooling or fixtures.

03

Quote

We define the production route and agree the scope of work, price, lead time and handover conditions.

04

Fabrication

We prepare the blanks, assemble and weld the structure, then perform the required machining and finishing operations.

05

Inspection & Shipment

We verify key parameters and completeness, then prepare the structure for pickup or delivery.

Cost Calculation

What Determines the Cost of Custom Metal Fabrication

For custom metal fabrication, cost depends on material requirements, the labor involved in preparation and welding, geometry requirements, machining, finishing processes and batch size. We provide an accurate quote after reviewing the documentation.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What to Know Before Ordering Custom Metal Fabrication

What information is required for a metal fabrication quote?
Ideally, provide an assembly drawing or engineering documentation, specification, material, quantity, welding requirements, coating requirements and critical dimensions. If full documentation is not available, send a sketch or technical brief with the main dimensions and intended use. After review, we will identify any missing information.
Can you fabricate a structure from a sketch or technical brief?
Yes. For an initial assessment, you can provide a sketch, technical brief or other available source information. If complete engineering documentation is required for production, we will define the necessary drawings, specifications and 3D data before the order is released.
What types of metal structures do you fabricate?
We consider frames, support structures, platforms, stairs, guards, embedded parts, process structures and custom welded assemblies. Final manufacturability depends on dimensions, weight, material, joint and inspection requirements, and the available production route.
What materials do you work with?
For metal fabrication, we work with structural and stainless steels as well as aluminum alloys subject to engineering review. The exact grade, material condition, thickness and stock form should be specified in the drawing or technical requirements.
What welding processes do you use?
We use MMA, MIG/MAG and TIG. The welding process is selected according to the material, part thickness, joint configuration and service requirements of the finished structure.
Can mounting surfaces or holes be machined after welding?
Yes, when this is included in the production route and the structure or its individual parts can be set up on suitable equipment. This is relevant for bases, flanges, mounting faces, threads, holes and other surfaces that require tighter geometry than welding and assembly alone can provide.
Do you accept one-off fabrication orders?
Yes. We handle both one-off and repeat orders. For a single item, a larger share of the cost may come from documentation preparation, fixturing, marking, assembly and process setup. For repeat batches, these costs are distributed across the production run.
    Do you provide on-site installation?
This page is focused primarily on fabrication. If delivery, installation or on-site work is required, include it in your request. Availability and scope are agreed separately for each project.
    What determines the lead time?
Lead time depends on documentation readiness, material availability, dimensions and complexity, part count, welding scope, machining and coating requirements, batch size and current production workload. The exact schedule is confirmed after engineering review.
